Maureen's painting shows women out hunting and sharing stories in their traditional roles. The desert people have quite definite duties and traditions, with the women gathering small game like lizards and snakes, with their digging sticks.

Here the women are dancing a ceremony. They are depicted as 'U' shapes, (the track they leave when sitting) and are dancing along together. The stylised patterns are the ridges of stone found on Mount Allan Station, where a lot of the small game is found.

The circles are places where ancestral beings lingered, forming the landscape.
