What Makes me Angry (and happy)
Still pissed off about the millions of us who
said we didn't want an unnecessary war, and at the lying bastards who went ahead
anyhow, and who continue to lie about it. Happy at having the opportunity to
live in peace in a country which has much to be thankful for, and much to give
in compassion and sympathy for those who suffer the lies.
The intro almost says it all. Those of us who saw
through the lies leading up to the "War we had to Have" by the Bushes, Blairs,
and our own John Howard in Australia, can offer nothing but contempt for the
continuing charade of 'we were told by our intelligence' and for the
ridiculously transparent enquiry into the death of poor David Kelly in England,
a classic example of blaming the messenger. The display by the warmongers of the
"Coalition of the Willing" bring to mind both George Orwell's "1984", and his
"Animal Farm" where the manipulations and distortions of those in power beggar
belief. Those who are apparently inspired by these books have taken these values
beyond Orwell's worst nightmares. Or have they? His dire predictions have
certainly come true. Unfortunately his writings seem to inspire some in power,
and in humble Australia the lies are the cornerstone of the Government. A Prime
Minister who is a public and shameful liar, (and not even his supporters can
deny it) actually has the hide to accuse the new opposition leader of being
sloppy with the truth!
I am however hopeful
that in our case we finally have a leader of the opposition who is capable of
taking the fight to Howard. I wrote late last year of the need to install Mark
Latham to the leadership of the Australian Labor Party, and his two months in
the position have been very impressive. We are a country which espouses 'a fair
go' and we have gotten off the rails thanks to the ability of a leader who
survives by bringing out the worst in people. It is time to bring out the
best!
