About This Site
This website has developed over many years with
the support of the creative and technical skills of Douglas Mann, (www.rightside.com.au ). The
aims, hopes, aspirations of the site are roughly summarized below.
The main objective of this site is to promote the
artworks of the Yuelamu Community, but also to provide a positive insight into
the culture and history of the indigenous people of Australia in general. The
Desert Star will also enable me to sound off about whatever else I choose to get
angry/delighted/passionate about. I shall endeavor to keep the site active,
adding artist profiles, paintings, and photographs of my travels and favorite
places. I shall incorporate both past and current selections of video, audio and
photography. I have recently acquired a Canon Eos300 digital camera, which is an
absolute delight to use, and the results have exceeded my wildest dreams. There
is a lot to do initially as I learn to master the software and collate the
ingredients. Be patient, but tune in from time to time, and I shall do my best
to stimulate you. I have been working with the desert artists for around sixteen
years now, and will be pleased to provide information, assistance or artworks to
interested perusers of this site. Enjoy.
